The Australian Government supports the establishment of the Taiwan Australia Alumni Association (TAAA). The President of Academia Sinica, Dr Lee Yuan-Tseh, has kindly agreed to be its Chief Patron. Currently there are 150 members, and we expect there will be steady growth in numbers. TAAA was unofficially launched on 29 June 2002, at a ceremony at the Agora Garden Hotel in Taipei, with the support and assistance of the Australian Commerce and Industry Office.

The purposes of TAAA are:

  • foster bilateral relations between Australia and Taiwan through Taiwanese students who have studied in Australia;
  • provide a forum for Taiwanese students to retain their connections to Australia;
  • advance the internationalisation of education; and
  • maintain contacts among students returned from Australia, to assist them socially and professionally
