Outline of Proposal
To produce a multi-part series on education and lifestyle issues related to Taiwanese secondary students studying in Australia. The series would be streamed on-line and act as a key AEI Taipei marketing tool in encouraging Taiwanese secondary students and their parents to consider Australia as a study destination.
Objectives
Australia has become an increasingly popular destination for Taiwanese students across all study levels wishing to undertake international courses. At a schools level, Taiwan has always been a consistent source country with secondary school commencements dominating this sector. Whilst AEI Taipei has in the past engaged in a wide range of schools-related marketing activities, AEI would now like to build on the success of the previous higher education video series in tailoring the model to the schools market. The schools series would be used primarily to raise the awareness of the Australia’s educational strengths and safe study environment available to an international secondary student.
The six part school series would highlight specific aspects of life in Australia for an international secondary student and their family (if accompanied). Each episode would focus on a topic specified by AEI Taipei and would promote the strengths of that topic. Target audience for this project will be Taiwanese parents and above (e.g. Grandparents, legal guardians) who are responsible for students of a secondary schooling age.
Scope and Timeframe
The project will be undertaken by a private contractor and is to be completed no later than Friday June 11, 2010. A progress timetable and specific terms will be negotiated following completion of the tender process.
The video series will feature 6 individual episodes covering issues related to international secondary students in Australia. AEI Taipei requests that the shooting style be fast flowing, informative and formal in order to cater to the target audience. Each episode needs to be in a format that can be easily viewed via the local AEI Taipei website www.aec.org.tw.
Proposed episode themes:
1. General Introduction on Australian schools system & curriculum
2. Accommodation (Homestay, Boarding school & Guardianship)
3. Quality Schooling & Future prospects (pathways to university)
4. Learning & Teaching methodology
5. School Environment, Multiculturalism & Pastoral Care
6. Support network for international student & their family
Throughout all the themes "safety" & "building global bridges" for international students should be highlighted.
Each episode should not exceed 5 minutes. It is expected that the contractor would budget for filming in both Australia and Taiwan. Shooting in Australia could be limited to one city.
Video Talent of Taiwanese origin is preferred with Mandarin as the main language to be used in the video series. It is suggested that the contractor incorporate a commentator or host as part of the filming format.
